I have been working on 4 little paintings- (2) 8'' x 10'' and (2) 10'' x 10" for about 4 months now off and on. I don't know why they have taken me so long but I could never seem to focus on finishing them. I started using oil sticks and I wasn't satisfied with the results so I eventually moved back to oil paint. I kind of like the result of using both techniques... I found the oil sticks gave such a stronger geometric feel to the paintings. When I went back to using the oil paint with a brush it combined softer, freer lines which added a nice balance. I find the two approaches work well together in these.
I have two of them in the shop now- hopefully the other two will be up in a day or so....
